A few days later the official release of gallery 1.4.2 became available. Happily it took me approximately 10-15 minutes to upload and configure gallery as well as post news od the update. ROCK!
Gallery v1.4.2 is mostly focused on bugfixes and minor improvements.

This version also has security improvements. Gallery v1.3.1, 1.3.2,
1.3.3, 1.3.4, 1.3.4-pl1, 1.4, 1.4-pl1, 1.4-pl2 and 1.4.1 have a major
security flaw, so we recommend that all users upgrade to v1.4.2.
