Europe's "The Final Countdown" Tick tock, tick tock.

Europe's "The Final Countdown" Tick tock, tick tock.

Live.

A timeless message that has been and will be spoken and written about until nobody is around to do so. Sometimes the message is beautiful, other times… Here are some examples:

  • “Never put off tomorrow what you can do today.” Thomas Jefferson – quote
  • “No day but today” – song lyrics from Rent
  • “just breath” – lyrics from a number of songs
  • “Live today, die tomorrow!” – movie
  • Etc.

2009 was a year filled with death, like any year. But for some reason a large number of well known people passed away for reasons other than old age. Mixed medication, cancer, accidents took the lives of so many.

This got me to thinking about my life. I try to live as though today is my last day everyday and know that I will succeed and I will fail. So what am I, are we, to do? Everyone lives daily but for those that want more… Are you taking steps to achieve your own personal more?

Here is what I began to think about that put things into perspective…

If I were told that from this very moment, for exactly one year, I would live a healthy life but that I would die just as soon as the year ended, what would I do differently?

Would I…

  • Travel te world
  • Audition for something
  • Start a family
  • Donate to a cause
  • Volunteer
  • Establish a Foundation
  • Set up a fund for my child(ren)
  • Visit friends and/or family
  • Invite guests to stay
  • Learn how to build furniture
  • Play a board game a week
  • Exercise more
  • Eat at a restaurant that is just a bit too expensive
  • Have a party
  • Open a business
  • Start a project that will extend beyond the one year limit
  • Complete legal paper work
  • Write a song
  • Watch a/many movies, maybe a top 10 or 100 list
  • It could go on and on… And on and on and on and on – See what I did there? =)

Thanks to the film “Bucket List” with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson the phrase “Bucket List” is now fairly well known. A phrase used less frequently is “Life List” – probably because it just doesn’t have the same OMG factor as  – kick the “Bucket List”. Speaking of, something I need to do is to…

  • Create a Life List/Bucket List

The new year is around the corner, you have one year of solid healthy living left…

  • 365 days
  • 8,760 hours
  • 525,600 minutes
  • 31,536,000 seconds

What are you going to DO with that time before it and you are gone?
