Academic Computing has a vacancy for an individual who will work with the academic computing team to support and train faculty, staff, and students in the use of desktop and classroom technologies. Responsibilities include provision of helpdesk services, installation and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, maintenance of computer lab facilities, and development and delivery of workshops, tutorials, and documentation. The Computing Specialist will also participate in user needs analysis, the evaluation of new technologies, administration of user accounts, technology inventories, and supervision of student employees. The work schedule is: 1 pm – 9 pm, Monday – Thursday; 9 am – 5 pm on Fridays.
The successful candidate will possess an exemplary work ethic, a strong commitment to customer service, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Extensive knowledge of Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft Office, Eudora, and graphical Web browsers is required. Proficiency in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other Web development tools is desirable. Must be able to lift and carry monitors, towers, and related peripherals. Previous experience with technology in an academic environment is a plus. B.A. or B.S. and 1 year of relevant experience required.
