CT Reps Vote - July 31, 2006

A minimum wage increase?! Ha. Fat chance flying solo. But, attached to an estate tax relief bill… You got that right faithful reader the bill made it through the doors of YEA. CT had an interesting split on this. The D’s went NEA and the R’s went YEA. Huh.

Expect to see a $2.10 increase over three years starting Jan. 1, 07. Is this a yeah! moment? Here are the details…

Increase in the Federal Minimum Wage and Tip Credit Fairness

The provision increases the current federal minimum wage rate of $5.15 per hour by $2.10 over three years in the following increments: $5.85 an hour effective on January 1, 2007, $6.55 an hour effective on June 1, 2008 and $7.25 an hour effective on June 1, 2009. The provision also provides that tips may be counted towards meeting any future minimum wage increases by employers in those states where state law prohibits tips from being calculated as part of the minimum wage.

Note - This all depends on whether the Senate approves the bill which will be voted on soon. Expect D’s to say NEA and R’s to say YEA. I hate bills attached to other bills.

On my otanjobi emma gave me something no one else could. It was beautiful. It IS beautiful. Not in the myspace kind of way either. True elegant beauty that stems from her passion for words and writing. I can only hope to be partially as clever as she is with my own writing. I know I’m dry and uninspired, that’s the way it is so far.

I will not post the words she presented to me online. It is not for anyone else to see, share, or be privy to. The poem will remain with me here at 11o1 and beyond.

Reflecting back to 7/13 I know I was not in the best of spirits because things just weren’t going well for me. Take a peek at the post just before this one for a dabble in the blah’ness. I didn’t like being unhappy and I probably didn’t react as I should.

I was impressed and honored to receive such a powerfully meaningful gift but my body and mind didn’t let it out. Inside I was impressed awe struck but my body and mind had checked out.

Today I heard a funny thing from the director of the library (Sha) on the topic of marriage. She said something to the effect of ‘Marriage is never 50/50. Sometimes it’s 70/30, sometimes it’s 100/0. It’s always changing.’

On the 13th emma was in the greater of percentages by a long shot. I was in need of help and she has been there to help me through my recent struggle. She knows what it is and how much it’s affected me. I needn’t elaborate for anyone else’s needs.

IMG_3998Thank you lil lady. You’ve helped so much with my ick stress. Hopefully it’ll be a do-do soon enough. You made a suggestion about what I should write when I said I’d write a three word post: “I posted three words! Mwahahahaha! 4?! No! AH! And now there are more!”

I’m keeping your suggestion as a memory. Nobody else needs to know what you suggested. What. Could. They. Be? 0=) There truly are hundreds of combinations.

Laces.

Far From a Free Mind

Earlier this week I did something horribly out of character. It was Tuesday evening in fact. emma was worried about me and even had a sad/worried look on her face when I left for work Wednesday morning. I was in semi-chipper spirits even though I was still exhausted and sluggish.

salvador-dali-explosionWhen I arrived home Tuesday evening I was in, no, I wasn’t in a mood I was a mood. I felt pangs of frustration the likes of which I haven’t felt in ages. I fed the girls, checked my email and some sites with an eruption not far off. Feeling this I dropped myself on the bed. The girls soon found me and rested next to me. It felt nice and intrusive at the same time.

The next thing I knew it was 10 PM. I only knew this because emma was going to bed. I stumbled to brush my teeth and then collapsed on the bed. 6 AM rolled around after a 2 brief moments of alertness. The first was of my mind racing to answer questions that were not answerable. The second was of a couple in the distance… Insert your own imagination here.

Both interruptions were likely only 1-2 minutes but felt like hours in my mind. I just wanted to sleep. I didn’t need to be awake yet. I guess it felt like the morning, work, was further away than it actually was.

It’s not a happy place, lately, which saddens me. I truly enjoy working at SLC and want to contribute so much more than what I have thus far. emma’s thought is that I was escaping into sleep. It’s possible. I wouldn’t have thought about sleep in that way but I guess it’s the kind of thing that people do.

iron man issue-76Something completely off topic and fan boy fun fun fun is the Iron Man Comiquette! I received confirmation from the distributors on July 18th that it “will be arriving in (Sideshow’s) Los Angeles warehouse within approximately the next 20-25 days.” Sometime between tomorrow and next Wednesday I will know even more details. This is kickin news considering I ordered it back on March 21! Glee glee glee.

Now, all we need to do is put up the other pictures and wall stuff to display it. Insert simply joy. Ahhh.

In other geek news the Core 2 was announced today which means the iMac should might be upgraded during/after the WWDC. Time to hop on board! I am not a fan of the new laptops from Apple and will happily avoid them after my experience with Apple’s support with my 12″ PB but a centralized UBER powerful machine that can run both OS X and Windows XP. Yea, I’m for it. I’m rrrrready.

On a personal project note flipmeover.com will continue its creation this weekend. It’s a slow road since some of the involved writers are activly working on other projects - being michael madsen and remembering hypatia.

Enough with the sad sad me writing. Hopefully that’s out of the system. Yea team to fan boy fun. Oh yea! New comics waiting up in CT. )blissss(

Monopoly Goes Plastic

A sad day in gaming. The offical rules state every player starts with “2 $500’s, 2 $100’s, 2 $50’s, 6 $20’s, 5 $10’s, 5 $5’s, and 5 $1’s. All remaining money and other equipment go to the Bank.”

The total is $1500. Game makers Parker have changed the rules, in the UK for now, though. Going forward player won’t have to worry about their math skills. Oh no. Instead all they’ll have to worry about is swiping their plastic. Ugh. This is a sad horrible pathetic day in gaming history. )insert disgusted face here(

I know I’ll be purchasing a copy or two of the original once the announcement is made for the US market. Stupid Parker… )GASP( Am I becoming Eddie Brock!

Rosa strikes back speaks out! Bush, dude, really, why don’t you get cancer and see how difficult a road it is to travel. All those that have dealt with it first or second hand know the pain involved. Blah. Stupid first and only veto.
