Production experience
My first New Zenith show with Ed and my first Shakespeare piece. Of course it wasn’t the typical first show. Get cast, learn lines, yadda yadda. Oh no. Instead I learned my lines and then taught someone my blocking and then had to learn a new part and be taught what was happening.
I was originally a mechanical but ended up as Lysander. I spent nearly 6 nights a week at the school learning and teaching. It was frustrating but I knew it would be worth it because there were 11 performances scheduled. The day I knew we were performing 11 shows I knew this would probably be the longest run I’d be a part of for a very, very, very long time. It was and still is.
I loved playing to the schools and relished hearding the adult reactions in the evening on their way out through the greeting line. We lined up outside the theater immediately after the show to thank the ‘guests’ for coming to the ‘weddings’. It was a great idea on Ed’s part. I have such fond memories of this show.
