He won an Oscar this evening and his latest show is here in the US. So, the moment we got back from Q’s we jumped on-line to get tickets. Did we beat the rush? YES! On Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 8:00 PM we will see, at present my favorite playwright, Martin McDonagh’s newest piece The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
The Lieutenant of Inishmore is set in 1993 in County Galway on the rocky island of Inishmore, off the coast of Ireland. Padraic (David Wilmot) is a terrorist with no feeling for those he blows up, but he has an obsessive attachment to Thomas, his beloved cat. Someone has killed poor wee Thomas. Was it an accident or an execution? Either way, the death must be concealed before ‘Mad Padraic’ returns from a stint of torture and bombing. Otherwise the recriminations will be horrifying.
